Adolf Meyer (1881-1929) was a close friend and promoter of Walter Gropius. In 1910 they co-founded the Fagus Factory, one of the most important buildings of modernism. The experimental detached house “Haus am Horn,” was then built for the first exhibition of the Bauhaus in Weimar in the summer of 1923. The house was designed by Georg Muche and the Bauhaus's Department of Architecture and Adolf Meyer and Walter March acted as construction managers.

The book describing this project was edited in 1924 and became the third volume of the Bauhausbücher: Bauhaus series. Following Walter Gropius's informative essay on “Housing Industry,” Georg Muche presents the design of a model building. Adolf Meyer is made to describe its technical execution, providing details about the companies involved.

This book is the first book by the Bauhaus to be published in English.
